Japan is one of the best places for higher studies. There is intense focus on research and the high quality of education provided here is a very good learning experience. Studying abroad was always a dream and Japan provides a good opportunity for international students having such dreams.

I decided to enter NUT because the labs of mechanical engineering here were working in areas of material testing, their fatigue behaviours and improvement methods. I thought the learning experience here would help me a lot for my working in Indian railways.

Receiving MEXT scholarship for two years which is sufficient for living expenses here.

Q4 What are the merits of enrolling in Nagaoka University of Technology
Nagaoka is a very beautiful and peaceful place to live in. The university provides excellent academic and research environment. Dormitory accommodation facility is excellent. Canteen and shopping centres are very good. There is very good support for international students. Very good in campus Japanese language classes available for students as well as family members.

Q5 What are the disadvantages of entering Nagaoka University of Technology 
Public transport is expensive. Buses are available, but at intervals of about an hour. So, personal vehicles are preferable for long time stays. In winters, because of heavy snow, movements within the city may be sometimes very inconvenient.

Very good place for higher studies. Must try to get a Japanese driving licence at the earliest for a comfortable stay here.

The modesty of the Japanese people and their dedication to their nations' progress were consistently portrayed in news reports and articles that left Japan along with their technologies. I've always wanted to travel to Japan to see their vibrant culture and landscape.

My research supervisor at IIT Palakkad, India, recommended joining Nagaoka University of Technology to take part in research work in the field of additive manufacturing. Otsuka Lab has all the facilities needed for research work in the metal additive manufacturing field.

The JASSO scholarship granted by the Japanese government gives support for exchange study for their studies and living.  This scholarship provides a decent stipend for living and studying at Nagaoka University of Technology.

From November to February, the weather is extremely cold and snowy. You have to slow down during these months in order to increase your energy and mobility.  Nevertheless, winter in Nagaoka is still a good experience.

I think that Japanese working style is comfortable with me. Moreover, the high-tech infrastructure of Japan benefit for science studying that what I want to do.

Because Otsuka lab is suitable for my PhD study. My work focuses to nanoscale material which demands integration of mechanical and chemical aspects. Here is where I can approach my research though these two viewpoints based on both experiment and simulation.

I received scholarship SGD professional course for 2 years. Also, the income from research assistant and teaching assistant help me a lot.

Generally, living condition in Nagaoka is great. Clean air and lovely natural landscape are good for student’s physical and mental health. Moreover, Nagaoka city is one of the best supportive place for international student where I have live. Thanks for support from university as well as city, my living is really comfortable.

The heavy snow fall is one of the biggest downsides of this city. It is quite inconvenient to travel in winter. On the other hand, if you are a snow enjoyer and interest in skiing, snowboarding, you will love this place as it is the 2nd most-snowing area in Japan.

Q1 Why do you want to come to Japan?
I used to stay in Japan when I was 7 years old. In that time, there were very good memory of living in Japan. Then I decided that if I have a chance, I will come back to Japan again.

Q2 Why did you decide to enter Nagaoka University of Technology?
I am interested to research for developing of biomedical application material. I conducted a research about designing of bone implant from porous structure of Ti6Al4V from Bachelor program in Thailand. For master program, I want to learn about fatigue failure mechanism to develop bone implant for long period usage. Moreover, there are good facilities for experiments and research.

Q3 How should I pay for living expenses?
There are many scholarship applications for international student. If you have Japanese language skill and prepare good application documents, the opportunity for scholarship will be higher. Moreover, you can do some TA/RA works or part time job to earn the salary.

I got the opportunities to use laboratory equipment that I have never used before. Moreover, I have met many Japanese and international students and exchanged for each country culture.

The university is a little bit far from city. The bus schedule is stop at university around 1 time in hour. Some places in the city can be assessed only by car. In winter season, the transportation sometimes is difficult because of heavy snow fall.
